Top 8 Benefits of Freelance Digital Marketing Jobs
If you’re still confused about being a freelancer in digital marketing, here are some benefits to help you make a decision.
1. You Are Your Own Boss (Most Of The Time!)
When you choose your own freelance digital marketing jobs, you’re also choosing how much you want to work and when you want to work and the best thing about working as a freelancer is that you can control your workload.
Digital marketing is a demanding field, with client expectations always high and trends and technologies ever-changing.
With a freelance career, you’ll be able to decide exactly how much you want to take on. You’ll therefore be able to navigate this field with more ease than in a full-time job.
As you are your own boss, you can choose how many tasks or projects you wish to work on at a particular time.
This will help you in maintaining a perfect work-life balance by allowing you to focus on the other aspects of your life, such as your family. You can also take a well-deserved break if you feel tired.
2. You Get To Choose Which Clients To Work With
One of the disadvantages of working full-time in a digital marketing job is not having the freedom to pick which clients you want to work with.
Everyone wants to work on the food or fashion or tech brands, but few of them want to work for the BFSI or real estate sectors. In an agency, you don’t often have the option to choose.
But as a freelance digital marketer you do have the option of with whom do you want to work. You will be able to work on more passion projects, and truly understand the kind of brands that fit your personality, aptitude, aesthetic and skill-set.
Our tip: Find a niche as a freelancer, and stick to it. The more specialized your content, the more it will be valued.
3. You Can Come Into Your Own As A Content Creator
Of course, you still have to work with demanding clients and their expectations and restrictions. However, if you are a freelancer, you can unleash your creative talent in a way that is uniquely yours.
With the rise of digital influencers in every field – who work solely for themselves – it looks like creativity is quite easy to express. In fact, it is rewarded.
So if you are looking for digital marketing freelance jobs that will not stunt your creativity, why not go into business for yourself and create the content you love?
You might just be able to monetize it tremendously!
Our tip: Do some research on your favorite influencers and figure out how they consistently create quality content. Then make a content plan for yourself.
4. You Can Work With Some Of The Best Talent In The Industry
Just because you’re not working in an office, it doesn’t mean that you will not get to interact with some great peers and seniors. As a digital marketing freelancer, you will be working with some of the best.
If you’re a copywriter, you might get to collaborate with talented designers, videographers, and photographers. If you’re an SEO expert, you’ll get to work with expert web developers. It’s likely that you will form your own community of digital marketing freelancers, and work together on multiple projects that come your way.
Forming this community is also a good way to get projects through word-of-mouth, and build a larger portfolio of great work.
Our tip: When you get a project, always recommend a collaborator that is in your network. The favor is sure to be returned!
5. Your Ties With Digital Marketing Agencies Will Increase
Digital marketing agencies in India often hire a lot of freelancers. So try working with a wide range of agencies whose work you really admire.
You will meet experts in the field, people who have been in the digital marketing industry for years. You will also meet peers whose work resonates with you.
And if you want to ultimately let go of the freelance lifestyle and work a full-time job in a digital marketing agency, they’re more likely to hire you if they have worked with you on a freelance basis before. Your work will be known and trusted, and you’ll be familiar with the brands that the agency works on.
Our tip: Don’t do freelance work for an agency or company you don’t believe in, just for the money. When it comes to looking for a full-time job, you won’t really know what kind of agency or company will be the best match for you.
6. No limit on the amount of earning
There is no such thing as a salary cap for a freelance Digital Marketer. It is not like a regular job where a fixed salary is given to you every month. It’s a kind of a form of business that an individual is involved in.
In freelancing, you can earn based on the skills you have, and the number of client projects you are working on. The more you work, the more you earn. It totally depends upon you and your capabilities.
You will be paid depending upon the size of the project you have completed. You also have the option to negotiate on the amount offered, with the respective client.
7. Overcome Geographical Barriers
The best part about working as a freelancer is that you can work for any company or any of the clients while sitting in the comfort of your own home. You can even work while you are traveling or just sitting on a beach, by enjoying the view.
As a freelancer, you also have the opportunity to work with many international companies. You don’t need to travel 10000 miles to work with them. You can do that by sitting at your home and that’s the most interesting thing about being a freelance digital marketer.
8. You can work on your passion projects
Everyone has different interests in various fields, some want to work for a food, fashion, or technology company, but few want to work in the banking, financial services, or real estate industries. But everyone doesn’t always have the option to pick at an agency.
But as a freelance digital marketer you do have the option to work according to your interests.
You’ll be able to work on more passion projects and have a better understanding of the brands that are a good fit for your personality, aptitude, aesthetic, and skill set.
In fact, some of the top digital marketing freelancers specialize in a certain field. If you’re a fitness fanatic, for example, you may develop content, especially for health and wellness brands.
Now, many of you may believe that digital marketing is a very broad field and that you will have to handle a lot of different things as a freelancer.
Yes, it is a very vast field but there are multiple sectors under digital marketing, in which you can expertise yourself and work on. Given below are a few of them.

Does anyone know the solution for this?
Hey Stella,
That’s really sad to hear!
What you can do is you can sign an MOU document which clearly mentions the deliverables, payments and the consequences on defaulting on payments. Another option is you can work on part or advance payments to avoid such a scenario in future.
