Teachers of Today 2019
Technology upgradation and teacher’s training are the two important elements that will enable the Indian education system to leverage the power of digital education and prepare students for new age jobs and careers. Keeping this in mind, IIDE Mumbai organized a one day conference titled “Teachers of Today” for all educators.
Through this initiative, teachers gained the ability to understand technology better in order to create the best classroom and online educational experience for students. Teachers learned how to make use of e-learning platforms to share their ideas with the world.
They were taught how to plan their content and create a course module. They were also shown how they could accomplish the task of creating an online course with just their smartphone camera and a laptop. They even had a practical session in which they made their own sample course videos. These videos were screened for all the participants to see and give feedback.
Content marketing is just as important as content creation. Keeping this in mind, teachers were trained on how to increase the reach of their content using social media marketing on Facebook and Instagram. They were also taught the various business models and revenue options which could help them earn a passive income.
Anju Kapoor, Principal of Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Arts Commerce and Science, Mumbai, who was the chief guest at the conference says,
“The education and digital space, both are dynamic and that is a reason both can adapt with each other. The challenge now is, what are teachers actually going to do with all these new skills!”
These skills will empower teachers to explore all digital opportunities to generate more income by teaching. It will equip our teachers with skills that can turn the platform of distraction for a student into a platform for worthwhile education.
